Clavis 'Short' Burris

Clavis “Short” Burris, 88, of Gradyville, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at the home of his daughter.

He was born on April 23, 1928 in Adair County and was the son of the late Willie W. and Nellie Janes Burris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Voyce Shirley Burris on Nov. 5, 2011; and by a son, David S. Burris.

He was a self-employed carpenter and a farmer.

He is survived by one son, Donnie Burris and his wife Darla of Gradyville; one daughter, Marie Lemmon and her husband Michael of Gradyville; a daughter-in-law, Lana Burris of Gradyville; one brother, Tom Burris of Columbia; one sister, Lucille Reece of Shelbyville, Ind.; and by three grandchildren, Shane Garmon, Keisha Skaggs and Lori Adams.

Five great grandchildren and several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Withers officiating with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are requested to Hosparus of Green River. These may be left at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Shane Garmon, Steven Skaggs, Darren Adams, Trey Garmon, Tanner Garmon and Keagan Skaggs.

Honorary casket bearers were Danny Burris, Travis Burris, Randall Richard, Dale Hayes, Richie Janes and Michael Richards.
