Dallas Edward “Billy” Richards, 79, of Columbia, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1937 in Adair County and was the son of the late Dallas Abraham and Mary Jane Harmon Richards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Delmas “Ted” Richards; and by three sisters, Mary Helen Costello, Lucille Morgan and Marquerite Arnold.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Floyd Richards of Columbia; one daughter, Vickie Richards of Columbia; two brothers, Donald Richards and his wife Debbie of Elizabethtown and Dwight Richards of Aurora, Ill.; and by three sisters, Sarah Ann Cook of Louisville, Loretta Fay Young and her husband William of Columbia and Sheila Jacqueline Clyburn and her husband Michael of Lexington.

Several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends also survive.

He was a retired plumber and a former employee with Columbia Utilities Department, an avid fisherman and loved old automobiles.

Funeral service was Sunday, Dec. 18 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jody Perkins officiating with interment in Freedom Cemetery.

Donations are suggested to be made to the American Cancer Society and may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Dallas Arnold, Joe Arnold, Dallas Michael Arnold, Harold “Goose” Cottrell, Randy Huckaby and Duston Huckaby.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
