David Hoover, 74, of Columbia, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on May 2, 1942 in Adair County and was the son of the late Gordon “Buster” and Agnes Pruitt Hoover.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era and was a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nyle Hoover and by two sisters, Brenda Sue Hoover and Sherry Campbell.
He is survived by two sisters, Betty Dowell and Faye Kelsay, both of Columbia; and by a special nephew who David thought of as a son, Justin Wallace, of Columbia.
Several other nephews, nieces and friends also survive.
Memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Burbridge Cemetery with Rev. Elbert Hadley officiating. VFW Post 6097 presented full military honors.
