Demaris Holt, 92, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at Casey County Hospital in Liberty.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1920 in Kokomo, Ind.

She was the daughter of the late James and Eva Williams Whited and the widow of L.L. “Jack” Holt, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Gregory “Greg” Holt and Billy Joe Holt; one brother, James Whited; and by one sister, Mona Cass.

She is survived by two sons, Dallas “Buddy” Holt of Columbia and David Holt of Monticello; and by six grandchildren, Tim, Demaris, Cindy, Coy, Niki and Samantha.

Seven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

She was a member of New Hope Separate Baptist Church and worked at Shepherd Grade Center.

Funeral service was Saturday, Dec. 22 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey and Bro. J. Richard Lehman officiating with interment in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbeareres were Kenny Pyles, James Ralph Roberts, Dennis Roberts, Billy Morrison, James Willis and Tim Holt.
