Edith Marie Irvin, 84, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Summit Manor Health and Rehab Center.

She was born on March 11, 1929 in Adair County and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Sinclair Burton and was the widow of Matthew Irvin, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Irvin on Feb. 21, 2009; two brothers, Roger Winston Burton and Ray Burton; and by two sisters, Glena Rooks and Eunema Goodin.

She is survived by one son, Mike (Jodi) Irvin of Columbia; six daughters, Gearoldene (Ralph) Brock and Louise (Steve) Patton, both of Campbellsville, Charlene (Lester) Brock, Arlene (Lonnie) McAllister, and Rosemary (Clifton) Bennett, all of Columbia, and Libby (Ned) Cunningham of Russell Springs; three brothers, James Alton Burton of Columbia, Billy Joe Burton of Edinburgh, Ind. and Danny Dale Burton of Flatrock, Ind.; and by three sisters, Freida Hembree of North Vernon, Ind., Lucille Cook of Edinburgh, Ind., and Patty Lee of Columbia.

Eighteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Irvin was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and was retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Funeral service was Saturday, March 23 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Clifton Bennett and Bro. Jamie Bryant officiating with interment in Bear Wallow Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brian Brock, Greg Brock, Andy McAllister, Nick Cunningham, Mark Bennett, Nathan Irvin, Jeremy Irvin and Jacob Irvin.

Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Brock and Matthew Irvin.
