Gerald Doss, 77, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1939 in the Pellyton community of Adair County and was the son of the late William Edgar and Nina Irene Sinclair Doss of Adair County.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Doss on April 3, 1999 and Brian Doss on April 17, 2016; and by his brother, Don Doss.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Hinton Doss of Columbia; four grandchildren, Jacob Doss, Adam Doss and Katie Doss, all of Columbia and Chelsey (Jeff) Thompson of Campbellsville; one step son, Wayne Reeves and his wife Jennifer of Georgetown; and by two step granddaughters, Rachael Reeves and Rebecca Reeves.
Three great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Gerald was a member of Central Church of Christ in Columbia. He was a Ky. Colonel twice, an insurance agent and financial advisor. He was employed with Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company and Reed Brothers Insurance in Columbia and was recognized as agent of the month and the year several times.
Funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 11 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Jared West officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Rogers, Jimmy Long, Dan Antle, Harold Ray Bradshaw, Harrison Moss and J.D. Grider.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
