Lois Jean Grant

Lois Jean Grant, 90, of Lebanon, formerly of Columbia, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2026 at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.

She was born on April 20, 1926 in Mingo, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late William and Jamima Pratt Preston.

She was the widow of Paul G. Grant, who passed away on July 27, 1962. He was in partnership with T.P. “Cotton” Phelps in the Chevrolet dealership in Columbia, also business partner with Elbert Burton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dale Baughn Grant in Dec. 2010 and one brother, Loren Preston; and by special friends, Waymon and Mable Burton.

She is survived by one son, Daryl D. Grant and his wife Peggy of Lebanon; one brother, Bill Preston of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, JoAnn Hudson of Indianapolis, Ind. and Etta Alexander of Wisconson; and by three grandson, Myranda Gray, Paula Grant and Billy Daryl Grant.

Two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and family also survive.

She attended Lebanon Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev. William R. Davenport officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Curtis Hardwick, Robert Flowers, Stevie Gray, Pete Thompson, Troy Thompson and Margaret Tungate.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
