OBIT: Altarene Keltner, 83

Altarene Keltner, 83, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown after a short illness.

She was born on April 7, 1928 in Gadberry and was the daughter of the late James and Cleo Patra Stotts Murrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hansford Sinclair on May 28, 1960.

She later married Ray Keltner who preceded her in death on April 7, 2000.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Philip Sinclair on Sept. 4, 1995; two brothers, Stanton Murrell and Seymon Murrell; and by two sisters, Avis Murrell and Agnes Murrell.

Mrs. Keltner is survived by one daughter, Claudette Lowhorn of Albany; one daughter-in-law, Judy Sinclair of Columbia; one brother, Joe Murrell of Louisville; two sisters, Yvonne Gibson of Louisville and Annette Scott of Louisville; five grandchildren, Sherri Berger, Tommy Patton, Melissa Rooks, Sonya Absher and April Rooks.

She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Keltner was retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after 27 years and she was an avid bingo player.

Funeral service was Friday, Feb. 3 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Todd Akin officiating with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Phil Berger, David Cole, Mike Kelsay, Christian Patton, James Patton and Darren Rooks.
