George Thiery, 90, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at his home.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1921 in Dyer, Ind. and was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Clobes Thiery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Thiery and by one son, David Thiery.
He is survived by one son, Douglas Thiery and his wife Diane of Gradyville; one brother, Nick Thiery of St. John, Ind.; and by two sisters, Lucille Thiery and Lillian Teutemacher, both of Dyer, Ind.
Seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Thiery was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a carpenter for many years.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Wisconsin.
