OBIT: Madeline Burton Grider, 72

Madeline Burton Grider, 72, of Markleville, Ind., formerly of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at St. Johns Health System in Anderson, Ind.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1939 in Columbia and was the daughter of the late Tim and Mary Jane Burton.

She devoted her life to the care and nurturing of her family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening and her loving pet, Odie.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Grider whom she married on March 12, 1953; four children, Kenny Grider and his wife Cindy of Wilkinson, Ind., Sharon Sills and her husband Roland of Columbus, Ohio, Vernon Grider and Pam Perkins of Markleville, Ind. and Sheila Welsh and Bryan Kerr of Lafayette, Ind.; two brothers, Charles Burton and his wife Peggy and Randall Burton and his wife Judy, all of Columbia; four sisters, Bernice Cowan and her husband Calvin, Loeta Redmon, Phyllis Shirley and her husband Donnie, all of Columbia and Joyce Rodgers of Taylorsville, Ind.

Eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service was Friday, Jan. 13 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory in Anderson, Ind.
