OBIT: Robert Eugene Campbell, 68

Robert Eugene Campbell, 68, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at his home after several months illness.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1943 and was the son of the late Jonah Roy and Lina Bell Curry Campbell of Adair County.

He is survived by is wife, Charlotte Turner Campbell of Columbia; his children, Robert “Robbie” Campbell of Columbia, Julie Taylor of Columbia; Sandy England of Edinburgh, Ind., Cathy Turner of Columbia and Jeff Costello of Columbia; and by special friends, Linda Taylor and Velva Burton of Columbia.

Seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by William “Billy” Costello in 2004.

Mr. Campbell was a member of Free Union Separate Baptist Church, a bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education for 31 years, operator of Campbell’s Lawn Care and was the caretaker of Columbia Cemetery for 32 years.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Haynes and Bro. Clifton Cowan officiating with interment in Free Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Burton, J.R. Costello, Jeremy Costello, Gary Dale Curry, Marshall Irvin, Jerry Kerr and Coby Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were the Adair County bus drivers.
