Stanley Carney, Jr., 90, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at his home.

He was born on July 9, 1926, in Adair County to the late Stanley and Grace Ross Carney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Don Carney; two brothers, Mike and Charles Carney; and by one sister, Janet Sanders.

He was a member of Egypt Christian Church and retired from W.H. Sandusky and Son Lumber.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Rice Carney of Columbia; one son, Dale (Kathy) Carney of Mitchellsburg; a daughter-in-law, June Carney of Elkhorn; one brother, Millard Carney of Campbellsville; four sisters, Margaret Carney of Campbellsville, Lou Smith of Arizona, Kay Krug of Knifley and Cindy Williams of Elkhorn; and by 10 grandchildren, including Shannon Thomas, whom they raised.

Nineteen great grandchildren and several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Jewell officiaiting with burial in Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylor County.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Gideon Bibles. These may be left at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Noah Thomas, Stan Carney, Kyle Willis, Shane Carney, Mark Carney and Bam Carney.
