Barbara Chelf Jones, 77, of Columbia, died Saturday, December 16, 2023 at TJ Health Columbia Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born September 8, 1946 in a log cabin in Knifley. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Presley and Pauline Chelf; her sister, Marion Evelyn Chelf and her husband, J.L. Jones.
Barbara spent most of her adult life caring for others. If you were a friend of Barbara’s, you were a friend for life. She was good-hearted, loved unconditionally and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. Barbara was a faithful member of Knifley Christian Church and loved serving and helping others. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them whenever she could.
Survivors include her two sons, David Jones (Becky) of Columbia and Todd Jones (Christina) of Dixon; grandchildren, JT Jones (Carrie), Clayton Jones (fiancé, Emily), Jaylyn Bailey (Cara) and Jamian Bailey (Miranda); great-grandchildren, Rose Michelle Jones, Julia Belle Jones, Reid Bailey and Nolan Bailey; two sisters, Trudy Harden of Bowling Green and Maurita Herron (Van) of Knifley; she also left behind several special children in her life, Cindy Keltner, Sherry Powell, Buddy Powell, Pat Burton, Doris Moore, Faye Townsend; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Hugh Withers officiating and burial in the Roley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were JT Jones, Clayton Jones, Jaylyn Bailey, Jamian Bailey, Mason Burton, TalvanHerron and Weldon Herron.
