Charles Shirley, 80, of Cane Valley, Kentucky, died Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:30 A.M. at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was born February 15, 1943, in Adair County, to the late Dewey and Zada Moss Shirley.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Wayne and Ernest Shirley and three sisters, Edith Phillips, Beatrice Brock and Voyce Burris.

Charles was a member of Cane Valley Christian Church, retired from Columbia Utilities, owner of C&C Antiques, a member of Columbia Lodge #96, a former member of the Columbia-Adair County JayCees  where he was very active in the Adair County Fair, serving as Horse Race Announcer and Ringmaster for the Horse Shows and loved to play croquet and pool.

Survivors include:

His wife – Carol Sneed Shirley of Cane Valley

One daughter – Sharon Blair of Greensburg

One son – Larry Shirley of Cane Valley

Two grandchildren – Amanda Giles (Troy Kays) and Joseph Smith (Taylor)

Seven great-grandchildren – Kylie, Landon, Nevaeh, Colton, Max, Olivia and Hudson

Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral service – Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Cane Valley Christian Church with Bro. Godfrey Jackson officiating

Burial in Cane Valley Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Withers officiating

Visitation after 4:00 P.M. Monday and from 6:00 A.M. until 8:30 A.M. Tuesday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at Cane Valley Christian Church

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital which can be left at the funeral home

Casket Bearers:  Donnie Burris, Harold Shirley, Jerlyn Spires, Troy Kays, Joseph Smith, Jamie Cole, Joe Rogers, Marshall Sneed

Masonic rites will be held on Monday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
