Earl G. Bennett, 88, of Columbia, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at TJ Health Columbia. He was born on Wednesday, January 1, 1936 in Jamestown.
He was the son of the late Russell M. Bennett and Martha Susan Bennett.
Survivors include one son, Russell Bennett, of Columbia; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Boudreaux Bennett, and brothers, Ralph and Gavin Bennett.
He was retired from the United States Navy after 34 years of service, retiring as Hull Technician Master Chief Master Diver. Once retired he came back to his home community of Sano, living for over 30 years, where he worked as a farmer, raising cattle and growing his own crops including hay, corn and tobacco.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 E. Steve Wariner Dr., Russell Springs at 1 p.m with Bro. Delton Haydon officiating. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday until time for the services. Interment will be in Russell Springs Cemetery, 1516 Lakeway Dr., Russell Springs.
