Gary Lynn Conover, 62, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at his home after an illness.
He was born October 11, 1961 in Adair County to Alva Gene Conover and the late Cathy Johnson Conover. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Conover Strange; and a brother, Larry Conover.
Gary was a member of Columbia Church of God, serving as pianist and in other areas of ministry where he was needed. He was an over the road truck driver for 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Bryant Conover of Columbia; two sons, Jared Conover (Chelsea) and Brandon Wood (Chelsea) of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Ella, Allie, Sadie, Tela and Evie Conover, Grayson and Addie Wood; his father, Rev. Gene Conover of Columbia; two sisters, Teresa Thompson (David) of Georgetown and Pam Popplewell (Stacey) of Russell County; one brother, Jon Conover (Peggy) of Columbia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Stephens officiating and burial in Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Casket bearers are Chad Pike, Koh Kraner, Korey Kraner, Jordan Simpson, Josh Conover and Jared Conover.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
