Kenny Wayne “Rainmaker” Powell, 61, of Columbia departed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on January 2, 2024 in Glasgow, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walker McKinney “Wormy” Powell.  Kenny was a member of New Life for the Nations Church, a lifelong enthusiast of Semi Trucks, big fan of Elvis, Gunsmoke and The McCoy’s.  He was known for his witty humor and kind heart.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Powell of Columbia; his mother, Joyce Triplett Powell of Columbia; one son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Courtney Powell of Bowling Green; two grandsons, River and Nolan (who were the light of his life); expecting a granddaughter, Everly in February 2024; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Jennifer Powell of Columbia; two very special nieces, Heather McQueary (Austin) of Russell Springs and Mallory Beard (Tristan) of Columbia; and a bonus son, Jeremy McClister (Rachel) of Campbellsville.

A home Going service was held January 6, 2024 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Reliford officiating and burial in Columbia Cemetery.

Casket Bearers were Tristan Beard, Austin McQueary, Hunter Powell, Brian Harvey, Brandon White, Tim Jones, Larry Sample and Dakotah Sample.
