BARDSTOWN, Ky.  (Oct. 11, 2023) – Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal collision on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson Co. late Tuesday night.

On Oct. 10, at approximately 9:08 EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call of a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes near the 25 mile marker of the Bluegrass Parkway. A short time later, Nelson Co. Dispatched advised KSP of an injury collision near the same location.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2019 Ford Fusion was traveling in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes before striking a 2022 Ram 3500 pickup truck head-on, driven by Zachery Doster of Winchester.  The driver of the Ford, Raymond Mills, 71, of Mt. Washington, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. A 29-year-old passenger in the pickup truck was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway were closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to investigate and allow clean-up crews to clear the scene. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Nelson Co. EMS, and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by Tpr. Kevin Dreisbach.
