Scottsville, KY (October 31 2023) - On Tuesday October 31, 2023 at approximately 5:00 am, Kentucky State Police Post 3, Bowling Green was requested by the Allen County Sheriff's Office to investigate a fatal collision. The incident occurred near the 5500 block of Veterans Memorial Highway in Allen County. Troopers from KSP Post 3 responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Jose Alfaro, 53, of Bowling Green was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry southbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when his vehicle struck a deer. Jose Alfaro along with his wife, Ana Alfaro, 49, of Bowling Green, who was a passenger, exited the vehicle and were standing on the travel portion of the roadway. A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Javier Portillo, 26, of Bowling Green, struck the Toyota Camry and both Jose and Ana Alfaro. Jose and Ana Alfaro were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Allen County Coroner's Office.
The investigation continues and is being led by Trooper Michael Wathen. He was assisted on scene by Allen County Sheriff's Office, Allen County Coroner and other KSP personnel.
