Loyde Benjamin Hicks, a cherished husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, passed away on Sunday, March 10. Born on April 15, 1936, Loyde’s journey began in Boone, North Carolina, and at the age of 9, his family relocated to Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Loyde married his beloved wife, Deloris Greer, on December 6, 1957. Together, they were blessed with a large and loving family, including 6 children, Sarah Jane (still-born) Joy Icenogle (Scott) of Mooresville, Indiana, Dwayne (Tina) from Carrollton, Georgia, Kevin (Deanna) from Harrodsburg, Darlene from Campbellsville, and Scotty (Sabrina) from Carrollton, 
Georgia. Loyde and Deloris have 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Loyde was a devoted family man who took great pride in raising his family in the serene surroundings of Casey Creek.
Loyde served in the Kentucky National Guard for 9 years. Professionally, Loyde dedicated many years to driving a fuel delivery truck, a role he performed with exceptional service and care. He was also known for his meticulous attention to his lawn, a testament to his love for order and beauty in his surroundings.
In 2006, Loyde and Delores embarked on a new chapter, moving to Carrollton, Georgia.  They became active members of Southern Hills Christian Church. Loyde’s deep faith was evident in his commitment to the church and his strong belief in Jesus, the Son of God, to whom he gave his heart many years ago.
Loyde’s love for Appalachian and gospel music reflected his roots and passions. His love for this music was a joy to those around him, echoing his love for life and his faith. Loyde Hicks will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Public visitation is today, Thursday, March 14, from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, Georgia. Public visitation will be Saturday, March 16 from noon through 2 p.m. Eastern Time, at Great Oaks Ministries in Casey Creek, Kentucky.
Funeral Services for Mr. Loyde Hicks will be at 2 p.m., Eastern Time, on Saturday, March 16 at Great Oaks Ministries with burial to follow in the Roley Cemetery with full military honors.
The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The nephews of Deloris and Loyde Hicks will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg is in charge of the local arrangements. Great Oaks Ministries is located at 185 Dry Creek Road, Columbia, KY
