Marie Joyce (Smith) Bennett, passed peacefully away Saturday, November 25, 2023 in her home holding her daughter Fay’s hand. Best known to those who loved her as Patsy, Granny Pat and Aunt Pat, she raised five children with her husband Donnie. She was preceded in death by her husband, six years ago and their son, Marshall (Buckie) Bennett in 2001.
She would tell everyone she went to Granny School, but in truth, she was the one teaching all around her how to do it right. These lessons she taught will live on in the ones she leaves behind including daughters, Deborah White (Doug), Fay and Kay Bennett and Felisa Feign (Jeremy); daughter-in-law, Tammy; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and bushels full of nieces, nephews and all the tag-a-longs she affectionately “adopted” as part of the family.
The funeral service was held Friday, December 1, 2023 at Owen’s Funeral Home and burial followed at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
