Wilma Jean Stargel, 76, of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. She was born in Adair County on June 15, 1947, to the late Lester and Hazel Marie Burton Curry.

Mrs. Stargel was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and formerly sang with The Goodins. Jean enjoyed cooking, canning, singing, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Roger Dale Stargel of Columbia, KY; four children Rodney Stargel (Lynn) of Campbellsville, KY, Anthony Stargel (Vicki) of Post, TX, Tiffany Grant (Curtis) of Columbia, KY and Jared Stargel (Amber) of Columbia, KY; twelve grandchildren NaKisha Stargel, NaKita Ewing (Wayne), MaKayla Shelton (Michael), Nikki Stargel (Joe McKinley), Sabrina Willis (Dillon), Tyler Stargel (Lisa Garza), Mason Grant, Charlie Grant, Brayden Stargel, Halynn Stargel, Jase Stargel, and Sophia Stargel; seven greatgrandchildren Gemma Janes, Elsie Janes, Gracelynn Ewing, Thomas Ewing, Adler Willis, Della Willis, David River Shelton; six siblings Ralph Curry (Treva) of Columbia, KY, Steve Curry (Phyllis) of Columbia, KY, Terry Curry (Rhonda) of Richmond, KY, Judy Bailey (Jessie) of Shelbyville, IN, Beverly Veirs Coffey (Davey) of Hodgenville, KY, and Sondra Curry Altman (Barry Harlow) of Greensburg, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Gary Lynn Curry, a brother-in-law Roy Veirs, and a nephew Payton Altman.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, March 8, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday after 4:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Bro. Casey Davis will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Mason Grant, Charlie Grant, Brayden Stargel, Luke Rich, Andrew Roy, Curtis Grant, Halynn Stargel, and Jase Stargel. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren.
