Wesley Goodin, 93, of Millerfield Community, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at his home after several weeks of illness.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1923 and was the son of the late Joseph Clayton and Amanda Elizabeth Claiborne Goodin of Adair County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Millie Frances Hitch Goodin in 1984 and Marie Greer Hendrickson Goodin in 2012; two sons, Ronald Dale and Rufus Dean Goodin; two great grandsons, Nickolas Ealie Burton and Guy Ayden Wood; six siblings, Stanley Goodin, Leonard Goodin, Rev. Carey Goodin, Joseph Junior Goodin, Annie Lou Goodin and delta Stargel.

He is survived by five daughters, Janet Elaine Burton and husband David, Sharon Gale Melton and husband Chuck, Rebecca Frances Wood and husband Guy all of Campbellsville, Vickie Jo Milby and husband Gary of Summersville and Beverly Ann Powell and husband Dave of Columbia; four sisters, Margaret Miller and Juanita Warren both of Columbia, and Ella Newland and Reba McAwain both of Indiana. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and special friends the Amos Gaskin family.

He was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Hood Masonic Lodge #839 and was a retired farmer.

Funeral service was Friday, Dec. 23 at New Hope Separate Baptist Church with Bro. David Coffey and Bro. David Powell with interment in the New Hope Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Columbia VFW Post 6097. Masonic rites were presented on Thursday, Dec. 22 by the Hood Masonic Lodge #839.

Pallbearers were Aaron Burton, Adam Burton, James Burton, Nathan Burton, Paul Burton, Jennifer Gabehart, Ronald Melton, Steven Melton, Guy Wood and Gary Wood.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
