The Adair County Indians defeated Marion County in the district tournament Thursday night without the help of assistant coach Toby Curry, who was arrested right before the game in Campbellsville.
Kentucky State Police arrested Curry following an indictment in McCreary County.
Curry, 38, was charged with using his cell phone to induce a minor to engage in sexual acts. The incident allegedly occurred on Oct. 21, 2014. He was indicted in the McCreary County Circuit Court on Feb. 23. Following his arrest, Curry was being held in the Taylor County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
In addition to coaching, Curry is an English teacher at ACHS. He graduated from ACHS in 1995.
School Superintendent Alan Reed said Curry is now on administrative leave and issued a statement following the arrest:
“The indictment spells out alleged conduct that we would deem unacceptable by an employee of Adair County schools. The indictment does not involve any Adair County students but my number one job is to protect students. Therefore I am placing Mr. Curry on leave pending court action and within the stipulations detailed in our school board policy until there is court action on the accusation.
“This is a very unfortunate incident for us and I will be following the outcome closely,” Reed said.
