An Adair County teenager died in a single-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon.
Alaina Adams, 18, a junior at Adair County High School, was traveling on Ebenezer Road in Taylor County when she apparently lost control of her vehicle, traveled down a bluff and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alaina is the daughter of Mark and Angie Janes Adams. Funeral arrangements are expected to be made available Sunday by Grissom Martin Funeral Home in Columbia.
Robbie Harmon, dean of students at the Adair County school district, released a statement about Alaina’s death Saturday evening.
“As a district, we send our condolences and prayers to Alaina’s family. Our prayers also go out to Alaina’s many friends and loved ones. We pray that God wraps his comforting arms around Alaina’s family and friends in their time of loss and grieving,” Harmon said.
Adair County School’s Crisis Response Team, made up of trained counselors, will be on site at each school on Monday to talk with students, parents and staff as they process their grieving and loss, Harmon said.
“Thank you for your support of our students and staff as we work together to cope with this tragedy. Please feel free to contact your child’s school if you feel that someone needs to check on or speak with your child. Again our thoughts, prayers and condolences are extended to the Adams Family.”
