Byron Wyatt Hixson, 73, of Columbia, Ky, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 at 3:25 p.m. at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Leroy and Minnie Thompson Hixson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Judy Ann Neat Hixson, one brother, Ronald Hixson and three sisters, Wilma Johnson, Vera Davenport and Euna Cravens.
Byron retired from the Adair County Regional Jail, enjoyed playing golf, playing cards with friends, horse racing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marsha Hixson of Columbia; two sons, Barry Hixson (Angie) of Columbia, Gary Hixson (Dana) of Knifley; three grandsons, Will Hixson (Emma), Jake Hixson (Callee), Brady Hixson (Kendyl Hardin); one granddaughter, Chloe Hixson; two great-grandsons, Roman Hixson and Baker Hixson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dallas and Sheila Neat, Jeff and Rita Neat, all of Columbia, and Dewayne and Rhonda Neat of Russell Springs, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Don Neat officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the New Hope Cemetery Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Casket bearers will be Will Hixson, Jake Hixson, Brady Hixson, Dewayne Neat, Jeff Neat, Dallas Neat and Eric Antle. Honorary casket bearers will be Jamey Neat, Scott Neat, Steve Corbin, Bug Knight, John Grider, Mickey Feese and Perry Parish.
