Christmas Eve service set for CUMC
The Columbia United Methodist Church invites everyone for a Christmas Eve sacred time of worship Thursday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. There will be traditional carols, readings from the Holy Scriptures, and a Christmas message. We will also join our voices in “Silent Night” by candlelight as we welcome the birth of the Messiah.
The annual tradition is to celebrate this service together as a “Community of Faith.” This year, with the global pandemic, we feel an on-line service is the safest way to remember the birth of our Lord.
If you would like to receive a candle to light during the service and a special Christmas message, along with the hymns we will be singing, you can stop by the back door of the church Dec. 23- 24 from 1-3 pm to pick them up.
The service can be viewed by logging on to Facebook and accessing the Columbia Kentucky United Methodist Church site.

CIRCUIT COURT CLERKS’ TRUST FOR LIFE ANNOUNCE VIRTUAL ‘LIVE TO SAVE LIVES CONCERT’ WITH LEE BRICE
Virtual Concert to raise Organ Donor Registration Awareness on Saturday, October 10, 2020
September 27, 2020 Huntington, WVA – The Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust For Life and their partner, the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, are hosting the first-ever live concert in their ongoing effort to grow the Organ Donor Registry. In addition to the almost 1,000 patients on the waiting list in the Commonwealth, approximately 113,000 men, women, and children across the U.S. are awaiting lifesaving organ, tissue, and eye transplants.
To educate and help grow the Organ Donor Registry, both organizations have teamed up with several nationally-recognized and local musical artists to highlight the continuing efforts to save lives through the universal language – and power – of music with a live virtual concert on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The lineup of performers includes: Lee Brice; Jolivia: Josh Logan and Olivia Henken; William Matheny; Hello June; Laid Back Country Picker; Chelsea Nolan; Choc Four Wheelers; Flat Tracker; Josh Brown and the Hard Livin’ Legends; The Carpenter Ants; Josh Martin; Big Rock and the Candy Ass Mountain Boys; and Corduroy Brown, along with special appearances by John Ellison and Tiffany Lopez. The live concert will be hosted by Mountain Stage Executive Producer, Adam Harris, and the Technical Media Manager for the city of Huntington, Michael Valentine. Visit the livetosavelives.com at 6 p.m. Eastern Time to join the live broadcast on Facebook and YouTube!
“We are always looking to innovate and reach the community with education and registry initiatives, even in the midst of a pandemic,” states Dennis Loy, Adair County Circuit Court Clerk. “The 2020 ‘Live to Save Lives Concert’ is an exciting and positive way to reach a caring and music-loving audience of all ages to join in support of this lifesaving mission.”
Everyone can register as an organ donor online at www.donatelifeky.org and when they obtain a driver’s license at their Circuit Court Clerks’ office. There are no age limits or medical requirements to register as an organ donor.
