Rachel Antle

Rachel Antle, 96, of Russell Springs, died Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Russell County Hopsital in Russell Srpings. She was born in Olga, Ky., on July 11, 1926 to the late Everett and Valara Melson Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie B. Antle.

Mrs. Antle was a member of Coffey’s Friends Church and enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include four children, Larry Antle (Patty) of Glens Fork, Jerry Antle (Ruby) of Columbia, Ilene Kimbler of Jamestown and Katha Kimbler (Kenny Dale) of Jamestown; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Morgan of Russell Springs and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Antle and eight siblings, Calvin, Edwin, Eugene, James, Williams and Paul Morgan, Christine Antle and Marie Hadley.

Graveside services were held Thrusday, March 2, 2023 at the Regan Cemetery with Bro. Kenny Dale Kimbler officiating.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Antle, Joey Antle, Tommy Antle, Chase Antle, Alan Kimbler and Matthew Kimbler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland at 92 Joe T. Petty Dr., Suite 1, Russell Springs, Ky., 42642.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Hadley Harold Sr.

Robert Harold Hadley Sr., 82, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. He was born on June 10, 1940 in Adair County to the late Bart F. and Allene (Hale) Hadley. Robert worked at AAK as a production manager/director for 52 years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, landscaping, gardening and was an avid runner and cyclist in his day. He loved to read and was considered a lifelong learner. He valued education and most of all he was a family oriented man. Robert will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Sally Hadley; his sister, Carol Hadley; and a grandson, Elijah Howlett.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Rosalyn Rae Howlett (Chris); son, Robert Harold Hadley Jr.; three grandchildren, Chloe, Josiah and Lydia Howlett; two brothers, Dwight Hadley (Catherine) and Maxie Hadley (Kathy); along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time for the service at 2 p.m.

James Keith Dunbar

James Keith Dunbar

James Keith Dunbar, of Russell Springs, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Russell County Hospital following an extended illness. He was 55 years of age.

Keith was born November 12, 1967 in Wanamaker, Ind., son of James ‘Jimmy’ and Nelda Sullivan Dunbar. He was a past employee of Fruit of the Loom of Jamestown and had worked for over twenty years with Stephens Pipe and Steel.

He is survived by his daughter, Erynn Elisabeth Dunbar of Jefferson, Ga.; his mother, Nelda Dunbar of Russell Springs; his brother and sister-in-law, J. Kendell and Ellie Dunbar of Jefferson, Ga.; and a special nephew David Alexander Dunbar of Jefferson, Ga.

Keith is preceded in death by his father, James K. Dunbar.

The Dunbar family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Lucille Harden

Lucille Harden

Lucille Harden, 78, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born in Illinois on June 2, 1944 to the late Otto and Dorothy Wright Catron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Harden; a son, Jack Catron; and two siblings, Jimmy and Joyce Catron.

Mrs. Harden was a member of the Columbia Church of Christ and enjoyed shopping, flower gardening and spending time with her family and best friend, Ida Doss.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Karen Catron of Columbia; a grandson, Brandon Catron of Columbia; two sisters, Audrey Bardin of Columbia and Frances Johnson of Poland, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

John ‘Jack’ Garrett

John ‘Jack’ Garrett passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the evening of Feb. 19, 2023.

He lived in N.J. and graduated in 1952 from Trenton Catholic Boys School. He attended Rider College in Lawrence Township, N.J. and majored in business. Later, he worked for 37 years as a purchasing agent for DeLaval (Later IMO Industries). When a new opportunity arose, he accepted a transfer to their newest location and moved with his family to Columbia. It was a move he never regretted.

He took pleasure in helping others achieve success, including assisting local college students learn English as a second language and taking part in numerous volunteer, church and civic groups. He was a member of the Central Kentucky Amateur Radio Club, the Military Affiliate Radio System, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, the Bell Pepper Festival, Columbia Community Choir, Adair County Band Boosters and Boy Scouts of America. He held numerous positions as a long-time parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Columbia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Catherine Garrett.

He is survived by his wife of 62 and one half years, Janis Davidson Garrett, as well as his two sons, Brian (Casi) and Mark (Chasidy). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tasha, BJ, Caitlin, Cailean, Noah and Ainslee.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Dolan officiating.

A meal will be served after the service.

The family requests that no flowers be sent, but would appreciate a donation to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or the Charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Jack Garrett.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
