Emma Lloyd, 86

Emma Lloyd, 86, of the Cundiff community, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Westlake Regional Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1926 in Adair County, and was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lula Pittman Wright.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Osby Lloyd; her son, Larry Lloyd; and by a grandson, Dwayne Lloyd.
Ms. Lloyd was Postmistress of the Cundiff Post Office for over 37 years and was a member of Melson Ridge Separate Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Phillip) Burton and Glenda Snow, all of Columbia; and by five grandchildren, Wesley Melson, Brandon Bloyd, Bridgette, Derek and Amanda Lloyd.
Five great grandchildren, one step great grandchild and two step great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Watson and Bro. Richard Lehman officiating with burial in Shearer Cemetery at Cundiff.
Casket bearers were Bradley Bradshaw, Joe Hare, Darren Bradshaw, Jeff Pike, Billy Helm, Sammy Baker and Mitchie Melson.
Honorary casket bearers were Avalee Huddleston and Buford Hadley.

Donnie Miller, 52

Donnie Miller, 52, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Westlake Regional Hospital emergency room.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1959, in Adair County and was the son of the late John D. Bailey and Doris Miller Bailey of Columbia, who survives.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Miller.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Phillip Brown and Tyler Burton, both of Columbia; one daughter, Kresha Derman of Columbia; one brother, Timmy Miller of Columbia; four sisters, Davie (Anton) Johnston of Louisville, Mary Ann (Greg) Caldwell, Kelly (Robert) Turner and Verchelle (Russ) Wheat, all of Columbia; and by two grandchildren, Isaiah Atkinson and Tate Walkup.
Funeral service was Sunday, Oct. 14 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Walkup officiating with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mike Ingram, Brent Lane, Jr. Crawhorn, Carl Jones, Ricky Jones and Everick Bradshaw.
Honorary casket bearers were Zach Derman, Jimmy Brummett, Kenny Hughes, Jessie Anderson and Johnny Jones.

Jacob ‘Jake’ Willis, 86

Jacob “Jake” Willis, 86, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at his home from injuries received in an ATV accident at his residence on Oct. 4.
He was born on July 12, 1926, in Adair County, and was the son of the late Norman and Leila Clark Willis, was a retired logger, owning Jake Willis & Son Logging for over 40 years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Sneed Willis of Columbia; four sons, Mike (Treasa) Willis, Ricky (Helen) Willis and Mark (Debbie) Willis, all of Columbia and David (Penny) Willis of Custer; and by one daughter, Ann (Doug) Cox of Campbellsville.
Ten grandchildren, five step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and friends also survive.
Funeral service was Monday, Oct. 15 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Willis and Bro. Jonathan Willis officiating with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Jeff Herron, Keven Willis, Rodney Ford, Hobbie Richard, Kasey Loy and Steve Willis.
Honorary casket bearers were Trevor Willis and Josh Warf.

James Robert Cherry, 14

James Robert Cherry, 14, of Smiths Grove, formerly of Breeding, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville
He was a student at Warren East High School and attended Smiths Grove Baptist Church. While living in Breeding, he attended Columbia United Methodist Church
Survivors include:
His mother – Clare Edwards Cherry of Smiths Grove
His father – Douglas Cherry
Two sisters – Francesca & Emma Cherry both of Smiths Grove
His best friend – Mikey Thomas
Funeral service – Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery

Ronnie Furkin, 60

Ronnie Furkin, 60, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at Westlake Regional Hospital after several weeks illness.
He was born on March 12, 1952, in Adair County and was the son of the late Coy and Ruth Coomer Furkin.
He is survived by his wife Edith Parrish Furkin of Columbia; one son, Steven Furkin of Columbia; three daughters, Jennifer Branham and her husband Brandon of Columbia, Nevaeh Barrett of Columbia and Carla Burns and her husband Dennis of Winchester, Tenn.; one brother, Donald Furkin of Columbia; one sister, LuAnne Janes of Columbia; his nieces and nephews, Megan Janes, James Furkin, Tabatha Furkin, Darren Furkin, Bridgette Lester, Kim Hadley, Connie Lawhorn, Donna Sue Furkin, Kathy Shelton and Jean LeFaivre.
A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, James Vaughn in 2008.
Ronnie attended New Hope Separate Baptist Church.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. David Coffey officiating with interment in Harvey Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Norman Furkin, Steve England, Ricky Kerns, Jeffrey Coffey, Billy Fudge and Robert Ace Patteron.
