A Columbia family was involved in a three-vehicle accident on Wednesday, Jan. 21 on Hwy. 55, approximately nine miles south of Campbellsville.

A 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, being driven by Christopher Richardson of Campbellsville entered a construction zone where vehicles were stopped in traffic. Richardson struck a 2006 Pontiac G6 being operated by Tim Beard of Columbia.

A chain reaction took place causing Beard to strike a 2012 Ford van being operated by Christopher Gabbert of Campbellsville.

Beard was air lifted from the scene by Air Evac and transported to University of Louisville Hospital for injuries received in the accident.

Two passengers of the Beard vehicle, 44-year-old Catherine Beard and two-year-old Ian Cross, and were transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for minor injuries. Gabbert was also taken to Taylor Regional Hospital for minor injuries. Richardson was not injured.
