Early Monday morning, the Columbia Police Department initiated a knock and talk at a residence on Guthrie Street with suspected drug activity.

Officers detected marijuana odor when contact was made with the resident and officers made entry. The party stated to officers she had recently used methamphetamine. Search of the home yielded suspected methamphetamine, as well as marijuana.

Deanna Cooper, 58, of Columbia was taken into custody and has been charged with possession of marijuana, as well as possession of methamphetamine.

Cooper had been previously charged in 2020 with possession of methamphetamine by the Columbia Police Department.

Additionally, Roger Janes, 55, also of Columbia was taken into custody for an active warrant stemming from previous drug charges.

Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting officer and was assisted on scene by officer Jamie Cole and Adair County Sheriff Deputy Chandler Staten.
