A lengthy investigation led by the Columbia City Police resulted in the arrest of an Adair County man and the discovery of a working meth lab and meth packaged for apparent sale.
Edward W. Streeval, 52, was charged with manufacturing meth and possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Streeval turned himself in after police executed a search warrant on Friday, Feb. 3 at his residence at 75 Piercy Rd. and a farm on Bloomington Chapel Road.
Police say they were operating on information provided by an informant that led to the search warrant. They found several bags of packaged meth and loose filtered powder that had not yet been packaged, scales, a recipe for meth production, numerous firearms, $7,600 in cash and various items used to make and use meth.
The meth lab and meth were found in the master bedroom, according to City Police Chief Jason Cross. He estimated that around five grams of the final product, valued at $500, were found in the house.
Other components used to make meth and discarded meth labs, partially burned, were found at the farm, Cross said.
Police did not release details of the arrest last week because of an ongoing investigation, Cross said. Other arrests are expected, he added.
City Police Det. Tracy McCarol is in charge of the investigation. Sheriff Deputies Justin Cross and Adam Cravens and Kentucky State Police Trooper Bobby Sullivan assisted in the execution of the search warrant.
