FRANKFORT – Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture and candidate for Governor James Comer has asked Elliot Burton to serve as Youth Chair for his campaign in Adair County.
“I know Elliott through his leadership in the Republican Party. He represents the future of our state and is an asset to the Adair County community. It’s an honor for me to have his support in my campaign for Governor.
With the help of Elliot, and young leaders like him, we will not only win this campaign, but will build a better and brighter future for all Kentuckians,” Comer said.
Burton is the son of Greg and Julie Burton of Columbia. A 2014 graduate of Adair County High School, he is now a freshman at the University of Kentucky. His major is Agriculture Economics and minor is Political Science. Burton is active in the UK College Republicans.
Before becoming Agriculture Commissioner, Comer, a Monroe County native, served in the State House of Representatives for 11 years. He has earned praise for bringing transparency, efficiency and accountability to Kentucky’s Department of Agriculture.
His running mate for Lieutenant Governor is Senator Chris McDaniel of Northern Kentucky who is Chairman of the Kentucky Senate’s influential Appropriations and Revenue Committee.
