David A. Janes, 68, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1948 in Cumberland County and was the son of the late Sameul Gilmore and Juanita Raines Janes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Burton Janes of Oct. 19, 2016 and by two sons, Randell Joe Janes and David Janes, Jr.
He is survived by two sons, Carl L. (Stella) Smith of Columbia and Samuel (Kelly) Janes of Lexington; two brothers, Joseph Janes of Russell Springs and Timothy Janes of Winchester; and by one sister Mary Bond of Olive Hill.
Eight grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
He was a member of Dutch Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Burkesville, served in the United States Marine Corps and had been a truck driver.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 4 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Pitcock officiating with interment in Bearwallow Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marshall Lee Burton, Steve Bell, Jr., David Bell, Sherman Greene, Pat Furkins and Dwayne Curry.
Honorary pallbearer was Jackie Compton.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arragements.
