SOMERSET — A well-known criminal defense attorney was shot multiple times outside his office this morning and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Mark Stanziano was shot outside his office on West Mount Vernon Street about 8 a.m., the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Somerset police have taken a man whom witnesses identified as the shooter into custody but have not released his name, according to The Commonwealth Journal.
Stanziano represents Kenneth Allen Keith, the Burnside Baptist preacher charged with the triple murder at Danville’s ABC Gold Games and More in September.
Stanziano also represented Ronnie Cornett, who was convicted in 2005 of two counts of attempted murder for plotting to carry a pistol in to the Boyle County Courthouse to kill his wife and Family Court Judge Bruce Petrie over a bitterly contested divorce.
Stanziano also won an acquittal for Brittany Miller, the young Casey County woman accused of trying to poison her grandfather with antifreeze to inherit his estate in 2010.http://www.centralkynews.com/amnews/breaking_news/well-known-criminal-defense-attorney-stanziano-shot/article_09e2aac6-fe05-11e3-be19-001a4bcf6878.html
