Dennis Underwood, 71, of Columbia, formerly of LaRue County, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Rocky Mount, N.C., while on a business trip.
He was born on March 15, 1946 in Elizabethtown and was the son of the late Duell and Effie Howell Underwood of LaRue County.
Dennis was a truck driver for Rogers Trucking Company in Columbia for more than 41 years and was also a foreman for Rogers Trucking.
He attended Freedom Separate Baptist Church and was a fisherman.
He is survived by two sons, Stacey Underwood and his wife Tammy of Radcliff and Patrick Kelly Underwood and Mengyun-lou of Pearland, Texas; two brothers, Russell Underwood of South Carolina and Wayne Underwood of Anchorage, Ala.; two sisters, Wanda Brewer of Hodgenville and Gayle Travis of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, Ryan Underwood, Jonathan Underwood and Logan Underwood.
Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral service was Saturday, April 15 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Darrin Blair officiating with interment in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in LaRue County.
Pallbearers were Mark Baker, Walter Baker, Charles Breeding, Glen Breeding, Jonathan Underwood and Ryan Underwood.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
