Donald Wayne Jessie, 73, of Columbia, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017 at his home.
He was born on March 26, 1943 in Metcalfe County and was the son of the late Herman and Mattie Frances Romines Jessie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Padgett; brothers-in-law, William Franklin, Jim Isaac Franklin and Carlos Bragg; and by a sister-in-law, Ima Jessie.
He was a member of White Oak Community Church and was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Franklin Jessie of Columbia; one son, Tommy (Ramona) Franklin of Columbia; one daughter, Shelia (Tony) Franklin of Columbia; two brothers, Edward (Martha) Jessie of Edmonton and James (Vicky) Jessie of Gradyville; two sisters, Linda (Austin) Bragg and Connie (Danny) Phelps, both of Edmonton; one aunt, Lucille Romines Fields; two brothers-in-law, Rev. David (Doris) Franklin and Woodrow (Jeanette) Franklin; one sister-in-law, Dolly Bragg; one special friend, Jack Morgan; and by a special caregiver, Jane Potts.
Eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service is today at 11 a.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Conover officiating with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Casket bearers are Anthony Franklin, Josh Franklin, Justin Hancock, Ricky Franklin, Jeremy Franklin and Tony Franklin.
Honorary casket bearers are Steve Bragg, Jonathan Jessie and Austin Bragg.
