EDGE days Next EDGE days are July 22-23, 2016. Fall semester starts August 17, 2016 By Mariah Stearns COLUMBIA, KY – Rakeem Reynolds had been looking forward to coming to his EDGE day as soon as he registered for the day. The East Nashville (TN) High School graduate was among 280 incoming Lindsey Wilson College freshmen who attended the first three EDGE days of the summer. The first three days of EDGE; the final two will be July 24-25. ”I’ve been really looking forward to this day,” said Reynolds, of Nashvile, who will be playing for the LWC football team in the fall, “I woke up this morning and I was pumped up and pretty anxious to just get here.” Reynolds attended the Thursday EDGE day and plans on majoring in business administration. Along with Reynolds, Chynna Bloyd of Greensburg, a Green County alum, was also in attendance at the Thursday EDGE day. Bloyd plans on majoring in nursing at LWC. Bloyd said the EDGE day was nothing like what she thought it was going to be, but in a good way. ”I was scared to death coming here this morning,” she said. “I thought today was going to be all business and really serious, but it has been so much fun. I’ve had a great time.” The purpose of EDGE is to help students such as Bloyd feel more comfortable with the transition to college. EDGE — which stands for education, development, growth and experience — is an orientation program for incoming freshmen. The day introduces freshmen to the LWC community and gives them several opportunities to meet the college’s faculty, staff and students. While freshmen are with new classmates, parents and family members meet with college administrators and staff members to learn how to support their students during their time as Blue Raider undergraduates.
