The election board held an emergency meeting Monday afternoon that turned out to be for nothing, and an appeal of a case over the November mayoral election was already filed at the Circuit Clerk’s office before the meeting started.
The meeting began at 2:30 p.m. but was delayed until 2:55 p.m. awaiting County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison Corbin. Once Corbin arrived the group went into a closed session.

While they were in closed session the Community Voice learned that the appeal had been filed just prior to the closed session.
When the board convened following the closed session, they voted to adjourn with no action being taken.
The appeal is filed on behalf of the board of elections and states that James I. Howard, an attorney in Edmonton, and Hutchison Corbin will represent the board.
