Adair County Family Gardening Project
Adair County Cooperative Extension Service is partnering with Adair County Elementary School, and The Family Connection Family Resource Center to sponsor a Family Gardening Project. To register for this project fill out the registration form. We will contact you on when to start picking up gardening supplies. This is open to the first 30 families who register. This is a family gardening project so we want the whole family to get involved. You can do container gardening, a regular garden, raised bed gardens or a combination of all of them. The gardens do not have to be large. Small gardens are great and we will give you resources to show you how to get the most of your garden.
As part of this project, participants will receive gardening information, seeds, etc. During the first part you will get two trays, soil, and seeds to start plants that will be placed in garden later and you will also get other seeds that need to be planted at this time. Also, with the first part you will get a tray, soil, and lettuce and herb seeds to start a small indoor herb garden. During the second part of the project, you will receive other seeds when their planting dates come up to plant in your garden.
As part of the project, we are asking that all participants share pictures and stories about their family garden. We want this to be a family experience not just for the youth. You will also be getting healthy recipes to try with the plants you have in your garden. We would also like to see the youth enter some of their produce or plants in the Adair County 4-H Project Exhibits later in the summer.
