Frances Dial Smith, 92, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Summit Manor Health and Rehab Center.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1920 in Adair County and was the daughter of the late Johnie and Louie Estes Dial.

She attended Hutchison Community Church and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Smith; and by five brothers and five sisters, Buford, Luther, Ernest, Lucian, Ray, Allene, Martha, Louise, Mary Elizabeth and Evelyn.

She is survived by one son, Robert Allen (Robin) Smith of Columbia; 12 daughters, Margaret (David) Harden, Ruth Smith, Ruby (Jerry) Antle, all of Columbia, Sandy (Danny) Antle of Jamestown, Shirley (Jessee) Mings of Campbellsville, Mary (Donnie) Bennett, Nancy (Louis) Bennett, Betty (Chester) Bennett, all of Glasgow, Barbara (Jerry Rogers) Smith of Martinsville, Ind., Alice (Dennis) Robertson, Katherine (Walter) Bennett, and Clara (Arvist) Rodgers, all of Mooresville, Ind.

Seventeen grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, including a special person in her life, Sara Spoon Madrella of Burbank, Ill.

Funeral service was Sunday, Jan. 13 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Watson, Bro. Jimmy Bunch and Bro. Larry Brown officiating with burial in Hood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation should be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Juvenile Diabetes Association. These may be left at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Neal Smith, Josh Harden, Jon Harden, Chase Antle, Dustin Cagle and Jamie Smith.

Honorary casket bearers were Clark Hansel, L.C. Bradshaw, John Shirley, Ricky Bennett, Mark Bradshaw, Bruce Loy and Raymond Loy.
