Gene Mitchell Smith, 68, of Columbia, passed away Friday, Feb, 10, 2023 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born in Adair County on May 23, 1954 to the late Lyle Mitchell and Lois Sullivan Smith. He was also preceded in death by several cousins and other family members.
Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing and lived his life to the fullest. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Nacole Potts-Hardwick (Ken) of Brevard, N.C., to granddaughters, Laurel and Allie Hardwick, and several cousins, friends, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with cremation to follow the service. Visitation will be Sunday after 12:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith’s cremains will be buried beside his parents in the Columbia Cemetery at a later date.
