The ACHS girls golf team lost to Casey County at home yesterday by 11 strokes. Adair’s scores were Ashley Goodin – 40, Rachel Phipps – 49, Abby Royse – 55, Madison Bell – 60, Hailey Taylor – 66 and Lauren McQuaide – 80. Casey County individual scores were Laura McQueen – 45, Emilee Vaughn – 47, Alyx Streeval – 49, Natalie McAninch – 52, Shelbie Saylers – 54 and Catherine McAninch – 60.
“We had hoped to play better on our home course but our team is still figuring itself out,” said Coach Kim Goodin. “We are young in our 4, 5, & 6 spots and experience definitely matters in golf and they will get better. Our three older girls (even though scores may not reflect it yet) are playing more focused in the round than I have seen in the past. Unfortunately, as coaches we feel they aren’t putting in the extra time practicing needed to be performing well early. Golf is a tough game and it takes monumental practice to be a good player much less a great player.”
Next up for the girls is the Taylor County Invitational at Campbellsville Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 4. Hailey Taylor will tee off at 12:09 p.m., Rachel Phipps at 12:18 p.m., Abby Royse at 12:27 p.m. and Ashley Goodin @ 12:36 p.m. All girls will be going off #10 tee and times are CST. They are paired with Lexington Christian and Allen County-Scottsville.
