Herbert Bay Mattingly, Jr., 66, of Glasgow, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1950 in Lebanon and was the oldest child of Jane A. and Col. Herbert B. Mattingly, who preceded him in death.
Herb attended Washington County High School and was a 1968 graduated of Ft. Knox High School where he lettered in tennis. He received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Eastern Kentucky University in 1972 and began service with the U.S. Army shortly afterward, serving during the Vietnam War era. Herb is survived by his siblings, Edward A. Mattingly of Houston, Texas, Ann M. Bertrand and Mary M. Elliott (Tommy), both of Glasgow, Sue M. Smith (Jamie) of Columbia and Charles C. Mattingly (Beth) of Madison, Ala.; his nieces and nephews, Teresa Bertrand of Louisvillle and Brookes, Sabel, Emmy and Brittain Mattingly, all of Madison, Ala.
Funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 27 at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with interment in St. Augustine Cemetery in Lebanon.
Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow was in charge of funeral arrangements.
