The Adair County hospital district has signed an affiliation agreement with Norton Healthcare.
“We are now a Norton hospital affiliate. It is official,” said Neal Gold, vice-chairman of the board who is overseeing day-to-day operations at Westlake.
The affiliation will allow Westlake Regional Hospital to tap into the Louisville-based hospital group’s resources and expertise, Gold said.
“We have access to any of the continuing education they provide so our nurses and doctors can take advantage of that, we have access to all their online education, we can get consulting assistance from them to look at our processes and procedures,” Gold said.
The relationship could result in a number of physicians offering specialty services to the area.
“We will work together to determine what those needs are,” Gold said. Norton is already providing cardiovascular services at Westlake, he noted.
