After defeating Greenwood, Adair County faced up against Trimble County from the 8th Region for the fifth place game. The Indians controlled the game from start to finish with all 16 players on the roster seeing action. The Indians won 5th place in the LaRue County Hawks Holiday Classic with Corey Melton making the all-tournament team.
“Going into the game I told our guys that we were the better team,” Coach Deron Breeze said. “Our goal was to have 50 percent of our baskets come from assists and we achieved that goal.”

Adair County started the game on a huge 20-2 run and led 24-4 after the first. Cameron Lasley and Chance Melton both had 8 points each in the opening quarter to help the Indians jump out to the big lead.
A different five players started the second quarter of action, Dylan Feese, Anthony Payne, Tate Walkup, Hunter Cundiff and Keith Sloan. The new players hung with the Raiders and led 31-10 around the 5:00 mark of the quarter as the starters returned to build the lead up by the half.

The Indians led 40-14 at the half with Lasley leading scoring with 13 and Chance holding at 8.
With the outcome not in question, the Indians continued to dominate the game with good offense and forcing turnovers on the defensive end.

Sophomore Hunter Cundiff led the team during the second half with 10 points as Adair County led 61-29 after the third and closed the game out for the victory.

Cameron led with 13 points in the game and was joined in double figures by Cundiff with 10.

“All of our guys got to play and that was big for some of these kids to get varsity experience,” Coach Breeze said. “The more blowouts we can have the better we are. It allows more guys to play and get our starters out of the game for rest and to avoid an injury.”
