Isiah “Shorty” Rodgers

Isiah “Shorty” Rodgers, 87, of the Portland community of Adair County, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1929 in Adair County and was the son of the late Pierce and Lora Posey Rodgers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Augusta “Cricket” Rodgers and by a sister, Zelphar Smith.
Shorty was a member of Tarter’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a farmer.
He is survived by his brother, Jimmy Rodgers of Portland; two nephews, Louis (Rhonda) Smith and Charles (Vickie) Smith; one niece, Zenda (James) Pepper; one great nephew, Daniel (Jeannie) Smith; four great nieces, Laura (Jason) Akers, Beth (Micah) Little, Lisa Smith and Kristina (Drew) Stearns; two great-great nephews, Isaac and Oakley; and by two great-great nieces, Kylee and Alivia.
Funeral service was Thursday, May 11 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Withers and Bro. Darrell Coffey officiating with burial in Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Colby Smith, Timmy Young, Andrew Coffey, Jason Akers, Daniel Smith and Pete Beard.
Memorials are suggested to Tarter’s Chapel cemetery fund and can be left at the funeral home.
