Joe Allen Moore, 78, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Signature Health at Summit Manor.

He was born on June 14, 1938 in Gradyville and was the son of the late Allen Nell and Evelyn Montgomery Moore.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Angela Burris and Mindy Burris.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene K. Moore of Columbia; two daughters, Pamela Jo Moore of Columbia and Debbie Kay (Danny) Burris of Columbia; one son, Billy Joe (Angela) Moore of Liberty; one brother, Terry (Teresa) Moore of Columbia; four sisters, Joyce Smith of Lexington, Linda (Gordon) Kelsay of Glasgow, Nancy Miller of Columbia and Kathy (Mike) Williams of Glasgow; and by two grandchildren, Evelyn Moore and Emma Moore.

Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Joe was an electrical contractor for more than 40 years with Allen Moore and Son Electrical Contractors. Joe had served on the Columbia City Council and was an artist.

Funeral service was Sunday, April 2 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Hadley officiating with interment in Columbia Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Hosparus of Green River and may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Davis Smith, Jr. Smith, Greg Lee Burton, Greg Burton, Tony Appleby and Lane Burton.

Honorary pallbearers were Gerald McLean, Red Nixon and Curtis Hardwick.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
