Johnie James “Socks” Biggs, 91, of Columbia, died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at T.J. Health Columbia Emergency Room.

He was born January 31, 1928 in Adair County to the late John Johnson & Katie Pike Biggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray & Stanley Biggs, and one sister, Nancy Biggs. Johnie attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, a lifetime member of VFW Post 6097, a retired mail carrier and a farmer.

Survivors Include:

His Wife – Creola Cox Biggs of Greensburg

One Son – Jeff Biggs of Columbia

One Daughter – Jennifer Biggs of Columbia

One Sister – Cora Nell Cook & her husband Buster of Louisville

Several nieces, nephews & other relatives & friends also survive

Funeral Service – Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Lanny Garner & Bro. Rick Shelton officiating

Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097

Casket Bearers – George Rice, Bob Hutcheson, Phillip Cundiff, Randy Biggs, Bo Biggs, Mike Smith & Lynn Fletcher

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
