Josephine Rice Hubbard, 83, of Columbia, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at UK Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident on Dunbar Hill near Knifley.

She was born Feb. 21, 1933 in Adair County and was the daughter of the late Edward Clay and Purnie Emma Cox Rice.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Rice Dunn who was also in the automobile accident; and one brother Robert Lee Rice.

She is survived by one daughter, Regina Badouan of Louisville; one sister, Martha Roberta Rice Crouch of Columbia; two brothers, Joseph Earl Rice and Wyman Douglas Rice both of Lexington; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Beyl Burrows and her husband Robert James of Louisville; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Adair Burrows and Samuel Jacob Burrows. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had worked at Louisville Label Company.

A joint funeral service with her sister, Margaret Rice Dunn, was held Tuesday, July 19 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bishop Michael Rodenbuerg officiating and interment in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Danny Brockman, Mike Ferguson, Mark Rice, George Thompson, Scott Crouch and Kirk Sullivan.
